Young children hit harder

I was told that swine flu affects young children much worse than adults. Is this true? I live in Australia, so we are in Winter now & the virus is spreading. I have an 11 month old & 2 1/2 year old, & am wondering how concerned I should be if they do contract it ***** (From Trisha, your guide) ****I can't find any evidence that the World Health Org thinks children are infected worse than adults. This flu doesn't seem to act like so many others. However, it also doesn't seem to be as deadly as others either. Here is information about children in AU and quarantine requests: http://health.yahoo.com/news/afp/healthfluaustralia_20090604044931.html and here is info about children, swine flu symptoms and what you should do: http://pediatrics.about.com/od/swineflu/a/409_symptoms.htm

will swine flu come again in october?

hi, the other day, i read that in the next october, the swine flu, can return is this true? *********** from Trisha: It's less about the swine flu returning, and more about it not going away, and becoming more problematic in North America because the colder weather means people begin spending more time indoors. The seasonal flu gets started again in the Fall and could become more of a problem, too. We'll have to wait and see. None of us has a crystal ball, I'm afraid!

question

Can I catch swine flue by living near pigs? My neighbor has a backyard-like-farm with chikens and pigs ********** (response from Trisha: doubtful, unless those pigs have been exposed to either the pigs in Mexico that had swine flu OR if they are exposed to a human being who has swine flu.)

Swine Flu was create by U.S. government.

I've heard quite a few people say this one. I'm not sure where it started, but they seem to believe the U.S. government created this virus to sell more flu vaccinations.

Pig Thyroid Medications Cause Swine Flu

Some thyroid patients taking desiccated thyroid medications like Armour or Nature-thyroid that are made from porcine (pig) thyroid glands are worried that they can get swine flu from these medications. Not so, according to the manufacturers. Specific info on the lack of risk from thyroid drugs is featured online at http://thyroid.about.com/od/thyroiddrugstreatments/tp/swine-flu-armour.htm
