Reader Submissions: How Did you Confirm or Debunk a Scam or Bogus Email or Post?

We've all received those emails with wild claims, or links to videos or websites... or we have seen blog posts or statements on Facebook and other social media. They are forwarded over and over again. They contain statements that upset us, or just seem so wild and far flung.

Empowered patients know they should never just forward that information to someone else. Instead they take the steps necessary to confirm or debunk the claims made.
