Once you've completed your review of services, providers and customer service, share your findings with your human resources department. They may be able to supplement your findings with other information they have, or experiences your co-workers have had.
At that point, your due diligence will have provided you with your best choice.
Affect Your Future Health Coverage Choices
In most cases, the list of possible insurers is determined by your employer. If you find the possibilities for this open enrollment period are lacking in some way (for example, they don't offer vision or dental coverage, or their deductables vs their premiums don't seem balanced to you), then let your HR person know. There won't be anything they can do about it immediately, but they can share your feedback with the insurer and it may influence your choices for next year.
In recent years we've been able to see the effects of customer feedback. In some parts of the country, insurers are offering lower premiums for those who participate in quit-smoking programs. Some are offering gym memberships at reduced pricing, too.
These kinds of new offerings are win-win for all since they benefit you through better health and therefore lower costs, and the insurer and employer through lowered costs, too.
