What Did You Learn in Kindergarten?

Thursday September 4, 2008

It's back to school time throughout the country, and thousands, perhaps millions of children, have experienced that first day of kindergarten.

Maybe you are like me. This time of year I think back to my own experiences on the first days of school -- that "new year" feeling that comes about as a result of renewed friendships, new clothes, lunch boxes and (not again!) homework. I also think of my daughters' experiences -- so similar, regardless of the span of time between mine and theirs.

Which then reminds me about that Robert Fulghum book from years ago called All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten.

And it occurred to me that all the basics we need to get the best healthcare we can were learned in kindergarten, too.

What are they? I've made a list. See if you agree with my list -- and comment or even add to it in the Patient Empowerment forum. See you there.
